Lady Beavers run their win streak to 12 with sweep of Ellis
Scott City, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–Scott City has been on a tear as of late. On Friday, they would face a brand new opponent in the Ellis Lady Railers. The Lady Beavers wouldn’t trail, as they picked up a pair of wins, taking the first game in five innings 10-0, and completed the sweep in game two by pulling away 11-1.
Scott City 10, Ellis 0, Game 1 (5 Inn.)
Scott City wasted little time to get on the board. After they retired the side in the top of the first, the Lady Beavers batted around in the bottom of the first, and scored five runs in the bottom of the first. They took a 5-0 lead in to the third inning. The Lady Beavers added two more in the bottom of the third frame, and in the fifth, they closed the game out with five runs to take the opener 10-0.

Cheyenne Cramer threw 51 pitches, 46 strikes, in five innings of work, allowing just one hit and struck out 13. Malorie Cupp went 3-4, with two RBI, while Baylee Wolkensdorfer and Piper Fox each drove in two runs. Alyssa Rome took the loss, giving up 10 runs, four earned, on 10 hits. She also had Ellis’ lone hit in game one.

It took a while for Scott City to get their offense going in game two. When they did, they never looked back. The Lady Beavers scored a run in the first and third innings. In the fourth, Ellis got their first run of the day on a solo home run by Kaydawn Haag to pull to within 2-1. Scott City would get things ramped up offensively in the bottom of the fourth with two more runs. They added a pair of runs in the fifth, and closed the game out with five runs in the bottom of the sixth inning, as Jordynn Kough’s RBI sac fly made it 11-1.

Cramer added a solo home run right after Cupp in the sixth inning. Jordynn Kough drove in two runs for the Lady Beavers. Kaydawn Haag gave up 10 runs, eight earned, on 11 hits in five-plus innings of work. She had two of their three hits in game two.
Scott City improves to 12-2 on the year, and will be in Ingalls on Thursday for a tri with Cimarron and Hugoton, before hosting Garden City next Friday. Ellis dropped to 9-5 overall and will face Ellinwood on Tuesday.
