Lakin sweeps team titles at 87th Scott City Relays

Scott City, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–Weatherwise, pushing the 87th Annual Scott City Relays to Wednesday from Tuesday proved to be a great decision. In what was one of the nicest and warmest track days this season, 13 schools made their way to Scott City for the annual event. The Lakin Bronc track teams would take both the boys and girls team titles. While the Bronc boys would win by 25 points, the Lady Broncs held off Hoisington for the team title.

Starting on the boys side, Lakin repeated as Scott City Relays champions, finishing with 144 points, while Scott City was second and Hoisington was third. Lakin was led by Colter Oldham, who won the shot put and discus. Scott City swept the relays, and set a new meet record in the 4×100 Meter Relay.

For the girls, Lakin would hold off Hoisington, as they had 103 points, compared to the Lady Cardinals who had 98. Scott City was third with 88 points. Freshman Aryn Michaelis swept the hurdle races, and broke the meet record in the high jump.
