Oakley leads 4-1A Girls heading into Saturday; Two area girls will medal
Salina, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–In the second day of the Class 4-1A State Wrestling Tournament, the area would see two girls come through the consolation side to earn themselves a guaranteed placing. Both would come in the same weight class.
On Friday, Wichita County’s Jentri Porter and Cimarron’s Veronica Greene advanced to the Consolation Semi-Finals, earning a spot on the podium on Saturday. For both, it will be their second time placing at state.
Oakley has maintained their lead heading in to the final day on Saturday, as they Lady Plainsmen have three in the finals. Rossville is in second with two finalists on Saturday, while Chanute is in third with two finalists.
Wrestling begins at 9 am Saturday, with the consolation semi-finals on four mats, followed by the 5th and 3rd place matches, and the championship mats on three mats.
