Rose Hill maintains lead after day 2 in Class 4A; Two Scott City wrestlers in to the finals
Salina, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–Friday determined who would be a state placer at the Class 4A State Tournament inside the Tony’s Pizza Events Center. Two area wrestlers would punch their ticket into the championship on Saturday, while several others will be alive in the consolation semi-finals. In total, six area wrestlers will be on the awards stand at the end of Saturday.
The two finalists from the area are both from Scott City, as Trenton Frank rallied from an 8-1 deficit to pin his way into the finals at 106 on Saturday, while his cousin Houston Frank controlled his match and advanced to Saturday’s championship at 175.
Ulysses will have two guaranteed state placers, as Braysen & Jaxson Salinas will wrestle in the consolation semi finals. Holcomb’s Gregery Martinez dropped his championship semi-final match and will be on the consolation semis, as will Scott City’s Tanner Gooden.
Rose Hill maintains their lead, as they pushed four wrestlers into the finals. Tonganoxie has three finalists, and is in second, while Paola closes out the second day in third as, they put four into the finals.
Wrestling begins at 9 am Saturday, with the consolation semi-finals on four mats, followed by the 5th and 3rd place matches, and the championship mats on three mats.
