GARDEN CITY, Kan. – The time is now for winter sports to make their late-season pushes towards postseason play, and two Garden City squads are doing just that.

Buff Talk returned from Old Chicago Pizza & Taproom on Monday night. Two programs coming off important weekends highlighted another busy show.

Girl’s basketball picked up its first second-half comeback of the year in a win over Hooker (Ok.) on Saturday. Head coach Jacob Miller led the show talking about his team’s mental toughness and growth throughout a strong February.

The underclassmen were huge bright spots in the win over the Lady Bulldogs. Sophomores K.J. Pinchon and Alexiz Villegas joined next to talk about their improvements throughout their second seasons with the Lady Buffs.

Elsewhere on Saturday, girl’s wrestling took home a second-place finish in Dodge City. Head coach Carlos Prieto talked about some of the eight wrestlers heading to states in two weeks.

Thank you coaches Miller and Prieto, as well as Pinchon and Villegas, for joining Monday’s show. Special thank you goes to Old Chicago Pizza & Taproom for their great hospitality.

Buff Talk airs Monday nights from 6:30 to 7:30 P.M. on 99.9 ‘The Rock’.
