Buff Talk, February 5

GARDEN CITY, Kan. – February is underway, and with that comes the most important games for winter sports. Buff Talk returned live from Old Chicago Pizza & Taproom on Monday night to highlight some of these events.

Boys’ basketball took home back-to-back wins over Laverne (Ok.) and Life Prep Academy last week. Head coach Luke Swedberg began the show discussing his team’s quick starts last week, previewing Tuesday night’s WAC contest against the Liberal Redskins.

Student athletes Thomas Longa and Raul Munoz joined the show next, talking about their respective journeys to the varsity level. The two played together on Garden City’s junior varsity squad last season, and have now worked into being impact starters for the Buffs.

Wrestling begins its postseason journey this coming weekend. Head coach Carlos Prieto recapped his team’s strong finish to the season, including the annual Rocky Welton Invitational.
