Buffaloes Defeated by Mount St. Mary (Ok.) in Oklahoma City
OKLAHOMA CITY, Ok. – The Garden City Buffaloes lost their 11th game of the season, defeated by the Mount St. Mary Rockets, 61-31. The loss was Garden City’s largest defeat all season.
The game was one-way traffic from start to finish. MSM jumped out to a 15-7 lead in the first quarter, never trailing.
Garden City’s rough shooting performance at Goodland carried into Oklahoma. The Buffaloes (4-7) didn’t make a field goal in the entire second quarter, with Dawson Rucker’s 26-foot three pointer putting GCHS behind by 18 at the break.
Garden City didn’t hit a three-pointer until the 0:22 mark of the third quarter and trailed by as much as 30 in the game.
Mount St. Mary (11-5) had three players score in double-figures. Junior center Jodie Shavers made quick work of a depleted Buffaloes’ bench, scoring a game-high 11 points.
Emilio Zundt led Garden City with 10 points in the defeat. Center Corbin West scored a season-high three points, while Angel Sanchez made his varsity debut.
Garden City resumes WAC play on Tuesday against the Dodge City Red Demons. The American Implement Pregame Show begins immediately following girl’s basketball’s 6:00 P.M. tip-off on 99.9 ‘The Rock’.
