9/11 Day of Rememberance memorial service in Dodge City coming up on Wednesday
Dodge City, Kan.–The annual 9/11 Day of Remembrance memorial service will occur on Wednesday, September 11, at 7:00 p.m. at Liberty Garden in Wright Park, just east of Hoover Pavilion. The service is held to remember those who lost their lives in the terrorist attack on September 11, 2001, the servicemen and women who gave their lives, and those who continue to serve in the fight against terrorism.
This year, there will be a special tree-planting ceremony at the Ford Dodge Soldiers Home, located at 201 U.S. Highway 400, Fort Dodge. On the morning of September 11, beginning at 7:45 a.m., a tree will be planted in remembrance of those who died in the first plane crash into the north tower of the World Trade Center. The other trees to be planted will be at 8:03 a.m., 8:45 a.m., and 9:10 a.m. to coincide with the other plane crashes.
“The planting of trees is also in conjunction with the Keep America Beautiful Annual National Day of Planting, which begins September 8,” stated Corey Keller, Public Works Director. “We want to thank The Bogner Family, Wil Fischer Distributing, and Fidelity State Bank for sponsoring three of the trees.”
The city invites the community of Dodge City to attend the memorial service as we remember those we lost on 9/11.
