Semi-accident closes Highway 54 early Friday
Ford County, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–One person was injured early Friday morning in a crash in Ford County, at around 5:20 am.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol report, a 2023 Kenworth semi-truck driven by 32-year-old Michael Adam McDonough of Park City was westbound on US Highway 54 at Milepost 80, when he went left of center and struck an eastbound 2005 Peterbuilt semi driven by 35-year-old Randy Trevino Almeida of Amarillo in the passenger side.
Both semis caught fire, prompting a closure of the highway for a long period of time.
McDonough was uninjured and was wearing a seatbelt, while Trevino Almeida was taken to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita for his injuries. He was wearing a seatbelt, according to the report.
