GARDEN CITY, KS. – Winter sports has gotten off to an entertaining return for the Garden City Buffaloes. Plenty of programs have already been through a roller coaster of emotions since returning to action, and it’s only been two weeks.

Buff Talk returned live from Old Chicago Pizza & Taproom on Monday night. Playoff football ambiance rolled throughout the show, while Garden City squads that have been playing at playoff-level competition joined in.

Boys’ basketball starred this episode, with returning Buffaloes guards Emilio Zundt and Daniel Monarrez leading off the show. The two talked about the transitions into bigger roles in 2023-24 after being part of last season’s historic regular season team.

Head coach Luke Swedberg followed up to continue the hoops talk. The Buffaloes’ first two WAC games have come down to the buzzer, with coach highlighting a heroic win over Great Bend and a heartbreaking loss to Hays.

Wrestling bounced back in a big way, for both the boys’ and girls’ squads. Wrestling coach Carlos Prieto closed the show talking about the girls’ win at the Newton Tournament of Champions and the boys’ impressive turnaround at the Bobby Lyons Invitational. Junior wrestler Brayden Pacheco also joined to talk about his growth over three years within Garden City’s program.

Thank you so much to Zundt, Monarrez, Pacheco and coaches Swedberg and Prieto for joining the show. As always, a special thank you goes to Old Chicago Pizza & Taproom for their great hospitality.

Buff Talk airs live Mondays from 6:30 P.M. to 7:30 on KWKR 99.9 ‘The Rock’.
