Auto theft investigation leads to an arrest of a Garden City man
Garden City, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–A Garden City man was arrested Sunday morning as part of an auto theft investigation.
Twenty-four-year-old Daniel Ontiveros, 24, faces numerous charges from the incident.
Around 3:00 am Sunday morning, Officers were dispatched to the 1300 block of N. Taylor Avenue for an auto theft, where the reporting party told Officers their vehicle was stolen. Officers located the vehicle in the 1000 block of N. 11th Street. Officers attempted a traffic stop, but the vehicle fled at a high-rate speed before crashing into a privacy fence in a nearby neighborhood. The driver, identified as Ontiveros, fled from the scene on foot. After a brief foot pursuit, Ontiveros was taken into custody without incident.
Ontiveros was lodged in the Finney County Jail for the following charges of Felony Theft of Property, Felony of Interference of a Law Enforcement Oficer, Possession of Opiate, Driving While Suspended, Reckless Driving, two counts of Failing to Yield at Stop Signs, and Duty to Render Aid.
