Dighton grocery store destroyed by weekend fire
Dighton, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–A grocery store in Dighton was a total loss, after a fire took out the town’s lone grocery store.
Just before 9:30 pm Saturday night, the Lane County Sheriff’s Office, FIRE and EMS were dispatched to K & J Foods in Dighton for a reported structure fire. Once on scene personnel intially observed a large amount of smoke. Utilities were turned off while FIRE worked to contain and extinguish the fire. The owner was out of town and contacted her employee to respond.
There are no reported injuries and the structure is a total loss. A monetary estimate is undetermined at this time.
Emergency personnel remained on the scene throughout the night. The cause of the fire is under investigation by Fire Officials.
