Liberal Police Department issue notice of fentanyl in the community

Liberal, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–The Liberal Police Depmartment has released a notice to the public that fentanyl has been located in their community. Law Enforcement is aware that fentanyl is being mixed with a multitude of other drugs to include methamfetamine, cocaine, xylazine, and the manufacture of counterfeit prescription drugs that are packaged to mimic the look of the original drug. 

Officers excuted a search warrant on Monday, December 11, in the 700 block of East Spruce Street in reference to an ongoing death investigation. During the search warrant, officers had located approximately two pounds of fentanyl, fentanyl test strips, ledgers, baggies and scales. 

A lethal dose of fentanyl is considered to be 2mg. The amount of fentanyl seized would have the potential to provide 500,000 fentanyl doses.

This is an ongoing investigation.
