GARDEN CITY, KS. – Tuesday morning was an exciting one for Garden City High School senior Joshua Negron, who signed his college letter of intent to continue his education and athletic career at Fort Hays State.

Negron played for the Buffaloes’ varsity squad all four years, including helping the team reach their first state quarterfinals since 2016.

“I would like to thank my family, coaches, teammates, and several members of the community for helping me fulfill my life-long dream to play college soccer,” Negron said. “I am thrilled to be continuing my soccer career and education at Fort Hays State University.”

Negron was named to two all-conference teams during his tenure at GCHS. He was named second team all-WAC in 2022.

Negron was named team captain by head coach, Jose Vital, for his senior season. He delivered his best season to date and was named first team all-WAC in 2023, starting all three playoff games for the Buffs.

Fort Hays State is coming off an 8-7-2 season, losing in the first round of the GAC/MIAA Tournament to No. 25 Rogers State. Negron is the first Buffalo to commit to FHS for soccer since Larry Gomez in 2011.
