Syracuse teen dies in single vehicle accident
Hamilton County, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–A Syracuse teen was killed early Sunday morning in a single vehicle accident just after 2 am west of Syracuse in Hamilton County.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, a 2009 Nissan Altima driven by 18-year old Ronny A. Gavarrete of Syracuse was eastbound on US Highway 50, about five miles west of Syracuse, when he crossed the center line to the north and struck a cement retaining wall of a bridge, and came to rest facing northwest in the north ditch. The vechicle caught fire as a result of the crash.
Gavarrete was pronounced dead at the scene and was taken to Fellers Funeral Home. The report from the KHP states he was wearing a seatbelt.
