Girls state golf wraps up Tuesday; Hugoton’s Amerin 17th in 4A
Garden City, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–While no area teams advanced to compete in the top six on Tuesday, several area individuals were able to compete on the second day of their state tournaments in hopes of earning a top 20 medal at state.
In Class 6A in Emporia, Garden City was 10th and Dodge City was 12th after the first day. On the second day, Garden City’s Ailynn Anderson was able to compete, and she would finish just out of the top 20, placing 21st, with a two day score of 168. Olathe Northwest is the state champion, as Manhattan edged out Shawnee Mission East by three shots for second.
Class 6A Complete Results
At Salina in Class 4A, Hugoton finished 10th on the first day as a team, but had Danica Amerin advance to the second day of play. Amerin made the most of her opportunity as she was a medalist, placing 17th with a two-day score of 172. Topeka Hayden was the state champion, while Wamego was second and Wellington placed third.

For the Class 3-2-1A State meet at Hesston, Cimarron was 11th as a team on the first day, and they would have one player compete in the second day. Jade Loewen finished in a tie for 32nd. Silver Lake won the state meet, while Colby was second and St. Mary’s Colgan placed third.
