Wellington wins Scott City tennis regional; four area athletes qualify for state
Scott City, Kan. (westernkansasnew.com)–On a cool day in Scott City, six teams made up of the Class 4A Regional meet at the Scott City Middle School courts. At the end of the day, all six teams qualified at least one player for the Class 4A State Tournament next Friday & Saturday in Winfield.
The Wellington Crusaders would be the regional champions, edging out Pratt for the team title. Wichita Trinity got past Scott City for third place, while Ulysses was sixth.
Scott City would pick up a third place finish from Malorie Cupp in Singles, making it her third state appearance. Placing fourth was the Doubles team of Madison Roberts and Tatum Wells, which is their second trip to state. Ulysses has qualified their first player for tennis in years, as Clarissa Sianuqui placed sixth place.
