Firearm found in possession of staff member in Ulysses School District
Ulysses, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–Law Enforcement from the Ulysses Police Department and USD 214 school officials are investigating a gun found at a Kepley Middle School in Ulysses.
According to the release from Ulysses Police Chief Ron Vagher, the Ulysses Police Department was notified by USD 214 school officials that a staff member possessed a firearm in the Kepley Middle School Building. Officers conducted an investigation, with cooperation from school officials.
Upon their investigation, a person was identified, and the suspect was taken into custody by UPD Officers. A firearm was discovered during the investigation.
The suspects name is currently being withheld, pending formal charges being filed.
This was a separate incident from a threat that was reported earlier, as both reports are continuing to be investigated by the Ulysses Police Department.
