Scott City, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–After a tough 2021, Scott City doubled their win total last year, going 8-2, with a narrow loss to Cheney in the Regional round of the Class 3A playoffs. While there are a good number of pieces to replace from last season’s team, this year has seen a good start to the preseason, with around 51 players on the roster.

New for Scott City is a playing surface at home. The new field turf was installed just in time for practices, and the Beavers have been taking advantage of the opportunity to practice on their game field, which will have five varsity home games this season.

State runners-up in their state Wray, CO and Millwood, OK come to Darner Field this fall, as Scott City has 11 seniors on their roster.

Friday, they will participate in the jamboree in Great Bend, with Hoisington and Russell participiating as well. New to the coaching staff this year is Drew Kite, as Jim Turner enters his eighth season as the head coach.
