Scott City cross country sets bar high for the season
Scott City, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–Scott City cross country has been among some of the well-known schools over the past few years. Both teams are a few years removed from taking home state trophies, and this year, the goal is to get back to state with a chance to duplicate that.
The boys team finished 10th in Class 3A a year ago, and did not lose a senior from their lineup. Ten boys make up of the team, as Ivan Armendariz returns as the highest finisher from state with a 48th place finish a year ago. Bryndan Bailey also has state experience, going back to his freshman season.
On the girls side, Brinlee Stevens is the lone senior, and is one of five girls in the lineup this year. Belle Trout returns as the lone state qualifier a year ago, and was 44th at state.
Scott City will host GWAC in October for the first time in four years, and will have once again a schedule that will test them.
