Two men arrested after a short police pursuit in Scott City

Scott City, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–Two men were arrested following a short police pursuit Monday morning in Scott City.

Just after 2:30 a.m. Monday morning, an Officer with the Scott City Police Department observed a vehicle speeding on Main Street. The Officer attempted to perform a traffic stop on the vehicle, but it failed to stop. A short police pursuit began before the vehicle came to a stop near 3rd and College Street. The male driver fled on foot from the vehicle. The tag displayed on the vehicle was stolen out of Kearny County Kansas.
 
The vehicle was stolen out of Grant County, Kansas.
 
Officers were able to locate Joseph Aguilar Torres Jr, 41, of Scott City near the vehicle. The initial investigation found that Torres had been a passenger in the vehicle during the pursuit. Officers arrested Torres for a parole violation warrant from the Department of Corrections, possession of methamphetamines, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of stolen property.
 
During the investigation, Officers were able to identify the driver that fled as Adan Flores, 32, of Ulysses. Deputies with the Scott County Sheriff’s Office and Scott County Emergency Management were called to assist with the search for the driver.
 
Later on Monday morning, Scott County EMS observed someone matching the description of the driver that fled walking near Scooter’s. A Deputy with the Scott County Sheriff’’s Office arrived on scene, and confirmed he was the driver. Adan Flores, was arrested for the following charges: possession of methamphetamine, possession of paraphernalia, possession of stolen property, flee and elude, driving while suspended, interference, warrants from Seward County and Grant County.
 
This case has been referred to the Scott County Attorney for prosecution.
