Scott City, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–The Scott City Lady Beavers wrapped up their season on Tuesday in hopes to take positive momentum in regional play next week. They would accomplish that in a big way, as they would take a pair of run-rule games against Hugoton, winning 25-1 and 16-1 on senior day at the Scott Recreation Complex.

Scott City 25, Hugoton 1, Game 1 (2 1/2 Inn.)
The Lady Beavers would open up with four runs in the first inning and nearly bat around. However in the second inning, they would have plenty of at bats. Leading 4-0 heading into the bottom of the second inning, Scott City would score 21 runs, send 25 to the plate, and open up a 25-0 lead heading into the third inning. It was an inning that not only they would take advantage of several Lady Eagle errors, they would collect 13 hits in the inning. Hugoton would string together back to back hits with two outs in the top of the third, scoring a run, but the damage was already done.

Crissa Irvin drove in five runs with two hits, while Hannah Tucker and Malorie Cupp had three hits in the game. Cheyene Cramer had five striekouts, giving up a run on two hits, and needed just 36 pitches in three innings. Martha Saldana Rodriguez would drive in Amanda Farnum for Hugoton’s lone run. Farnum faced 33 batters in two innings in the circle to take the loss. She gave up 11 earned runs.

Scott City 16, Hugoton 1, Game 2 (4 Inn.)

They tacked on three more runs in the third and the final two runs came in the fourth with two outs to complete the doubleheader sweep in a 16-1 game.

Crissa Irvin had four hits and two RBI, while Mackayla Miller and Jordynn Kough each had two runs driven in.
