Road work in Ford County set to commence

Dodge City, Kan. (westernkasnasnews.com)–There will be two road projects that will take place in Ford County in May.

The first will begin on Monday, May 1, as a resurfacing project will resume.

Traffic changes are scheduled to start along U.S. 400 from the U.S. 56/ U.S. 283 junction to the east city limits of Ford.

This project consists of milling of existing pavements and a hot mix of asphalt overlay on the driving lanes. U.S. 400 traffic will be reduced to one lane through the project area. Motorists should be aware of delays of up to 15 minutes as one-lane traffic will be directed by flaggers and a pilot car through the work zone. The lane reduction will be marked by signs and cones. U.S. 400 will be open to normal traffic when construction is not taking place.

This project is expected to be complete by mid-May, weather permitting.

The second project is slated to begin on Monday, May 8.

Changes are tentatively set to begin along U.S. 400 bypass in Ford County as part of the four-lane expansion project on U.S. 50/400.
The U.S. 400 bypass, from the U.S. 50 junction south to the U.S. 56 junction, will be closed for three weeks due to road construction. Traffic will follow the signed detour on U.S. 50, 113 Road, U.S. 56 and U.S. 400.
