Storm fall to Mustangs 30-12 in season-opener
DODGE CITY–Karonce Higgins hauled in four touchdown catches for Gillette, and the Mustangs took down the Storm 30-12 in the Storm’s season-opener Saturday at United Wireless Arena.
Higgins was responsible for every Mustang touchdown in the contest. Gillette struck first on their first possession of the game and led the rest of the way, building a lead as large as 24 points in the second half.
Torrance Carr caught both Storm touchdowns, but turnovers plagued Southwest Kansas throughout the game. Tahj Tolbert was picked off four times, while the Mustangs did not have a single turnover.
The Storm return to action Saturday, March 18 when they host Omaha. Kickoff is slated for 6 p.m. CT.
