DODGE CITY–Kansas dug a six-goal deficit early Saturday, and a late Bandit rally was not enough, as Amarillo beat Kansas 13-9 at United Wireless Arena.

Amarillo sprinted out to a 7-1 lead midway through the second quarter, with both Jorge Gonzalez and Sam Webb scoring twice during that stretch. The Bandits responded by scoring five of the next six goals to cut the hole down to two, but then the Bombers scored three more to squash any hope of a comeback.

Isaias De La Torre led the Bandits with three goals and an assist. Antonio De La Torre scored once and racked up three assists for Kansas.

Amarillo outshot Kansas 31-27 overall in the match.

Saturday’s win marked Amarillo’s second consecutive victory over Kansas.

The Bandits fall to 2-6 and return to action Sunday when they host Colorado. Kickoff is slated for 3 p.m. CT.
