Bandits let 2nd half lead slip in 12-8 loss at Amarillo

AMARILLO–Kansas allowed a two-goal lead to slip late Sunday, and Amarillo scored five of the game’s final six goals to win 12-8 at the Amarillo Civic Center.

Kansas traded goals with Amarillo in the first half until the Bandits were able to grab the lead early in the third quarter on back-to-back goals by Antonio and Andrew De La Torre. But the Bombers responded quickly and ripped off three straight goals and eight of the next nine to finish the match.

Antonio De La Torre led the Bandits with a goal and two assists. Gloaaebdo Akolade scored twice for Kansas.

Jorge Gonzalez and Vitor Patriani each tallied five points for Amarillo.

Amarillo outshot Kansas 39-23 overall in the match, including 15-4 in the second quarter.

The Bandits fall to 2-5 and return to action Saturday when they host Amarillo. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. CT.
