Holcomb, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–Holcomb would sweep the Ulysses Tigers at home on Friday night. The Lady Longhorns win 59-20 over the Tigers, while the Longhorn boys win 67-48 over the Tigers.

Holcomb Girls 59, Ulysses 20
The Lady Longhorns started slow in day two of back to back games and would just lead 6-5 with 2:45 left in the first quarter. They closed out the quarter strong though and would lead 14-7 to start the second quarter. Jera Kruleski had 12 points in the second quarter as the Longhorns offense got rolling. Holcomb would lead 33-10 at halftime. They continued to control the game in the third quarter and would lead 48-19 to start the fourth quarter. The Longhorns would get the running clock right away and cruised down the stretch to win 59-20.

Ulysses shot 3-11 from three-point, 3-25 from inside, and 5-10 at the free throw line. They had 23 rebounds, two of those were offensive boards. The Tigers had 26 turnovers.

Ulysses was led by Cami Kenny with three points and nine rebounds, Clarissa Sianuqui with six points, and Chloe Curl with seven points.

Holcomb shot 6-25 from three-point, 17-35 inside, and 7-14 from the free throw line. They had 30 rebounds, 11 of those were offensive boards. The Longhorns had just eight turnovers.

Holcomb was led by Bella Galliart with six points and five rebounds, Kalyn King with nine points, Halle Jones with 10 points and 10 rebounds for a double double, her fourth on the season, and Jera Kruleski with 30 points. Holcomb moves to 5-2 on the season.

Holcomb Boys 67, Ulysses 48
Holcomb would jump out to a 9-0 lead with 6:15 to go in the first quarter on three made three pointers from Kaden Hardy. They would stretch it to a 14-5 lead with 3:30 left in the first quarter, but Ulysses responded and cut the lead down to five points 19-14 at the end of the first quarter. The second quarter continued to be back and forth and Holcomb would lead 33-27 at halftime. Kaden Hardy was 5-5 beyond the arc in the first half. The Longhorns took control in the third quarter and stretched the lead to 55-37 to start the fourth quarter. Holcomb cruised from there and came away with the win 67-48.

Ulysses shot 6-17 from three-point, 9-29 from inside, and 12-22 from the free throw line. They had 28 rebounds, eight of those were offensive boards. The Tigers had 11 turnovers.

Ulysses was led by Danzel Mendez with six points and eight rebounds, Tucker Metcalf with 11 points, and Alex Navarrete with 26 points.

Holcomb shot 11-21 from three-point, 12-21 from inside, and 8-13 at the free throw line. They had 23 rebounds, five of those were offensive boards. The Longhorns had 11 turnovers.

Holcomb was led by Korbin Johnson with eight points, Dalton Long with 10 points, Drayton Knoll with 12 points, and Kaden Hardy with 23 points on seven made three’s, as he was 7-8 from beyond the arc. Holcomb moves to 5-2 on the season.
