Garden City man arrested after firearm discharge

Garden City, Kan. (Garden City P.D.)–On November 19, 2022, Officers with the Garden City Police Department responded to St. Catherine Hospital for a report of a gunshot wound victim. When Officers arrived, they learned that a man with a gunshot wound had been brought to the hospital by 20-year old David Oliver of Garden City.
 
The investigation revealed that a verbal argument occurred between Oliver and the victim at Oliver’s residence in the 900 block of N. 9th Street. Following the argument, Oliver was handling a firearm while intoxicated when the firearm discharged and struck the victim. The victim was flown to Wichita due to the extent of his injuries.
 
Oliver was arrested and lodged in the Finney County Jail on the charges of Aggravated Battery, Criminal  Discharge of Firearm, and Interference LEO.
 
The investigation is ongoing.
