Lady Busters suffer first defeat in Enid
Enid, Okla. (westernkansasnews.com)–It was a tough Saturday afternoon for the Garden City Lady Broncbusters, as they suffered their first defeat of the season in a 78-43 loss to Northern Oklahoma College-Enid inside Mabee Center.
Garden City would lead early on, scoring the first five points. Trailing 9-8, the Lady Jets would score 10 straight at the foul line to lead 19-8 with 3:14 left in the first quarter. NOC-Enid led 22-13 after the first quarter and built their lead to 36-24 at the break.
The Lady Jets opened the second half on an 11-2 run, and would outscore the Lady Busters 22-8 in the third frame to extend their lead to 58-32 heading into the fourth quarter. They led by as many as 38 in the game, before defeating Garden City 78-43.
Northern Oklahoma-Enid (3-2) was led by Libbi Zinn with 17 points, LaKysia Johnson with 16 points and Braylee Dale added 13. The Lady Jets hit 10 threes in the game. They snapped a two-game losing streak.
Garden City was led by Taya Davis with 13 points and seven assists, and Dayshawna Carter added 11. They shot 27% from the field for the game.
The Lady Busters will play at Lamar on Monday to wrap up their non-conference slate.
