Lady Broncbusters take care of NOC-Tonkawa
Enid, Okla. (westernkansasnews.com)–The Garden City Lady Broncbusters put together a solid first half, posting 49 points, and cruised to a 77-63 victory over Northern Oklahoma College-Tonkawa Friday afternoon in Enid.
After the Lady Mavericks scored the games opening points, Garden City scored the next 12 points and never looked back. They would build a 25-11 first quarter advantage, and led by as many as 23 in the second period, before leading 49-27 at the break.
NOC-Tonkawa (2-4) outscored the Lady Busters 18-12 in the third period to pull to within 61-45. They would score the first five points in the fourth period at 61-50, but that was as close as the Lady Mavs would get, as Garden City improved to 4-0 on the year in a 77-63 win.
Leading the charge was Dayshawna Carter, who poured in 30 points, while Jae’Mya Lyons added 18 points and grabbed a season-high 19 rebounds. Taya Davis set a school record with 21 assists in the game. Garden City shot 53% for the game, and outrebounded NOC-Tonkawa 40-30.
Tonkawa was led by Jordan Holman with 16 points and 11 rebounds.
Garden City (4-0) faces Northern Oklahoma College-Enid at 2 pm Saturday afternoon.
