Peterson set to run at Tennessee
Johnson, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–Perhaps one of the most decorated runners in Kansas high school history is headed to the Southeastern Conference.
Stanton County’s Chesney Peterson made it official on Wednesday by signing her letter of intent to run at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville.
Peterson has won three consecutive cross country individual state titles, including winning by nearly 90 seconds at this years state meet in Wamego. Stanton County has won four consecutive Class 2A State championships in cross country. On the track, she has eight gold medals, winning four in her sophomore and junior seasons, and helped lead the Lady Trojans to a second and third place finish as a team over the last two seasons. In her junior season last spring, she won the 400M, 800M, 1600M and 3200M races.
At Tennessee, she will be running cross country to go along with track. Peterson will major in nutrition and dietetics.
