Broncbuster volleyball soars to a historic regular season, Now gears up for conference playoffs
Garden City, Kan (westernkansasnews.com) – Before the arrival of Patrick Hiltz in 2019, the volleyball program was in the gutter, coming off a 0-31 season smothered in NJCAA sanctions. It wasn’t clock work by any means, but now 3 years later, Garden City has had a season to deme historical.
Nearly 48 hours after coming off a upset victory over ranked Hutchinson, the stars aligned perfectly for Garden City. Fiona Arnold totaled 18 kills, Kate Perryman added 6 blocks, and the Broncbusters beat Barton in four sets 25-20, 25-19, 11-25, 25-14 Monday night at Conestoga Arena. It was Hiltz’s 100th career victory and 50th as the lead man for the Broncbusters in Garden City finished the regular season at 20-11 and 8-8 in the Jayhawk conference.
Now with the playoffs looming, Garden City more than likely travel in the opening round, as the top 4 teams in the standings will host. Dodge City currently holds the final host spot, but travels to Colby Wednesday, and Barton Saturday. The opening round of the playoffs will be November 2nd with times TBA.
