Scott City golf claims GWAC title

Scott City, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–In their final competition before regional play on Monday, seven schools competed in the Great West Activities Golf meet in Scott City at the Scott City Municipal Golf Course. The meet would produce a new league champion, as the Scott City Beavers claimed their first GWAC title, knocking off Colby and Cimarron.

Scott City turned in a team score of 327, followed by Colby at 341 and Cimarron at 354. 

The Beavers would claim the top two spots, as Kale Wheeler would take the individual title with a round of 75, followed by teammate Jackson Rumford with a 78. Ulysses’ Tucker Metcalf, and Cimarron’s Josh Weishapl tied for third with a score of 80.

Regional competition is on Monday, as Ulysses heads to Hesston for the Class 4A Buhler regional, while Cimarron is at the Class 3A regional in Larned, while Holcomb, Hugoton and Scott City head to Colby for the Class 3A regional meet.
