GCHS Student Receives Amazon Future Engineer Scholarship
GARDEN CITY, KAN (WesternKansasNews.Com) – Garden City High School senior Vivian Lara has been awarded the Amazon Future Engineer Scholarship. She is 1 of 100 students worldwide to receive this award. It comes with a $40,000 scholarship and an internship at Amazon.
The recipients of the Amazon Future Engineer Scholarship receive a $10,000 annual award for a total of $40,000 for up to three years or until a bachelor’s degree is earned, whichever occurs first. Winners of the Amazon Future Engineer Scholarship also receive a guaranteed paid 12-week summer internship at Amazon after completing their freshman year of college. Vivan will be attending the University of Kansas next year.
While working at Amazon, Amazon Future Engineer interns work embedded on a software engineering team and pair up with a co-intern, manager, and mentors to build projects that have a real impact on Amazon customers. The interns get to work on some of Amazon’s groundbreaking technologies and core platforms, like Alexa voice technology, Amazon Web Services, and the Amazon retail platform.
