Scott City Man Arrested After Stealing Firearms From Home

SCOTT CITY, Kan (WesternKansasNews.Com) – On March 28th, 2022, an Officer was dispatched to the 1300 block of Glenn for a theft report. The reporting party stated the victim was missing several firearms and other property.

During the investigation it was learned the suspect was supposed to have been staying with the victim to provide care for them. The firearms were located at another address in Scott City on March 28th.

On March 28th at 4:24 p.m. Richard L Coates, 66 years old of Scott City, was arrested for Theft and Mistreatment of a Dependent Adult, both of which are Felonies. He is currently incarcerated at the Scott County Jail and the case has been submitted to the Scott County Attorney for prosecution.
