Area wrestlers ranked in latest KWCA polls

Garden City, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–As we inch closer to postseason, the Kansas Wrestling Coaches Association released their newest rankings on Tuesday. 

In Class 6A, Garden City drops to No. 2, as Washburn Rural is now the top team, while Dodge City remains at No. 6. The Buffaloes have seven ranked wrestlers, while the Red Demons have five. No area teams are ranked in Class 4A or 3-2-1A, but Scott City has three ranked in Class 4A, Ulysses has a wrestler also ranked in Class 4A, and Wichita County has two in Class 3-2-1A.

For the girls side, Dodge City remains ranked No. 2 in Class 6-5A with six ranked wrestlers, and Garden City is No. 8 with four ranked wrestlers. In Class 4-1A, Lakin is ranked third with two ranked wrestlers. Scott City has one ranked wrestler.

Regionals will take place this Saturday, February 12, for girls, while the boys regionals are February 18-19.
