Man Stabbed in NW Garden City, Woman Facing Charges

GARDEN CITY, Kan (WesternKansasNews.Com) – On January 26, 2022, at around 2:50 P.M. Officers of the Garden City Police Department were dispatched to the northwest part of Garden City for a domestic situation, involving a man who had been stabbed by a woman known to him.

Officers learned that the man had returned to his residence after running errands and engaged
in a verbal argument with the woman, identified as Maria Herrera-Chavez (26), Garden City,
KS. Herrera-Chavez became upset and allegedly stabbed the man with a pocketknife, in the
presence of a small child. The man was taken to St. Catherine Hospital, where he was treated
and released for his injuries.

Herrera-Chavez was arrested and lodged in the Finney County Jail and could face charges
of Aggravated Domestic Battery and Aggravated Child Endangerment.
