Lakin, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–The Holcomb Longhorns swept the Lakin Broncs on the road Tuesday night. The Lady Longhorns won 60-35, and the Holcomb Boys won a close game 66-61.

Holcomb Girls 60, Lakin 35
The Lady Longhorns picked up where they left off on Friday night and jumped out to a 18-4 lead with two minutes to go in the first quarter. They would lead 21-8 going into the 2nd quarter. Holcomb would continue to attack and stretched it to 34-14 lead going into halftime. The Longhorns came out stagnant on offense in the 2nd half but good defense kept Lakin down. Holcomb would lead 44-22 going into the 4th quarter, and cruised to 60-35 victory. Jera Kruleski had six of the eight Longhorn three-pointers.
Lakin shot 11/38 from two-point, 1/10 from three-point, and 10/19 from the free throw line. They had 22
rebounds, 9 of those were offensive rebounds. The Broncs had 18 turnovers.
Lakin was led by Teagan Bachman with seven points, Jara Davidson with seven points, and Sammie Vogel with eight points and six rebounds.
Holcomb shot 16/38 from two-point, 8/18 from three-point, and 9/14 from the free throw line. They had 35 rebounds, 15 of those were offensive rebounds. The Longhorns had 15 turnovers.
Holcomb was led by Paige Jones with nine points and seven rebounds, Nicole Ruda with 13 points and 11 rebounds for a double-double, and Jera Kruleski with 26 points and four rebounds. The Longhorns improved to 4-4 on the season.

Holcomb Boys 66, Lakin 61
The Longhorns Boys started slow offensively with seven turnovers in the first quarter, but good defense kept Lakin down and Holcomb led 11-9 after the 1st quarter. Braxton Sizemore led the way for the Longhorns in the second quarter with nine points. The Longhorns would take a 29-27 lead into halftime. Kaden Johnson had eight points in the third quarter to help the Longhorns keep their lead going into the fourth quarter up 46-43. Lakin would not go away in the final frame and kept pace with the Longhorns. Daegan Vanpelt had eight points in the final frame, going 6/6 at the foul line to help the Longhorns. Holcomb would go 10/10 from the foul line down the stretch to seal the win 66-61 over the Broncs.
Lakin shot 15/25 from two-point, 6/25 from three-point, and 3/7 from the free throw line. They had 19 rebounds, 9 of those were offensive rebounds. The Broncs had 10 turnovers.
Lakin was led by Colter Oldham with 10 points and 5 rebounds, Servando Gonzalez with 20 points, and Allen Martinez with 22 points and 7 rebounds.
Holcomb shot 18/26 from 2pt, 5/15 from 3pt, and 15/20 from the freethrow line. They had 25 rebounds, 7 of those were offensive rebounds. The Longhorns had 16 turnovers.
Holcomb was led by Damon Mesa with 10 points, Luke Tolbert with 13 points, Daegan Vanpelt with 13 points, and Braxton Sizemore with 17 points and five rebounds. The Longhorns moved to 7-1 on the season.
