Car Stolen from Walgreens leads to Arrest in Garden City

11/19/2021 (westernkasnasnews) -On November 18, 2021, at around 6:10 P.M., Officers of the Garden City Police Department were dispatched to 1308 E. Kansas Avenue (Walgreens) for an auto theft that had just occurred. Officers were notified that a Honda Civic was stolen from the parking lot.

Officers located the Honda Civic in the 200 block of S. 3rd Street with an occupant, who identified Frank Garcia (33), Garden City, KS, as the driver of the vehicle and that he was inside his apartment. Officers made contact with the occupants of the apartment, and two individuals exited the residence. Another occupant, identified as Christina Hernandez (30), Garden City, KS, refused to leave the apartment with Garcia. Officers attempted to negotiate with Hernandez and Garcia, but they refused to surrender to police.

After a search warrant was obtained, Hernandez and Garcia were arrested and taken into
custody.

Hernandez was lodged in the Finney County Jail on the charge of Interference with LEO
(F).

Garcia was lodged in the Finney County Jail on the charges of Interference with LEO (F)
and Theft of Property (F).
