77th Annual Dodge City TOC Bracket Revealed

DODGE CITY, Kan. — The Dodge City High School Athletic Department released the bracket for the 77th Annual Dodge City Tournament of Champions tournament that will take place Jan. 23-25 at United Wireless Arena. 

The eight teams that will be competing in the tourney will be Bishop Miege, Campus, Dodge City, Maize, Manhattan, Shawnee Heights, Wichita East and Wichita Heights. Campus is currently ranked No. 1 in Class 6A by the Kansas Basketball Coaches Association, while Manhattan is currently ranked sixth in 6A and Bishop Miege is No. 3 in Class 4A.

Two of the eight teams competing in the three-day tournament will be making their first appearance, while the other six teams have combined for 36 of the previous 76 titles. 

The tournament, which began in 1944 is said to be the longest running high school boys basketball tournament west of the Mississippi River. The TOC has seen numerous state champions, as well as players who went on to play in the NCAA, NBA and other professional basketball leagues. Some of the notable alumni to have played in the tourney include Ron Baker (Scott City), Perry Ellis (Wichita Heights), Geneo Grissom (Hutchinson), Bubba Starling (Gardner-Edgerton), B.H. Horn (Medicine Lodge), LeRoy Esau (Buhler), Taj Gray (Wichita East), Lon Kruger (Silver Lake) and L.J. Goolsby (Dodge City) to name a few.

Action tips off on Thursday, January 23 at 2:00 p.m. inside of United Wireless Arena. There will be 12 days over the course of the four-day tournament and will conclude with the Championship Game on Saturday night at 5:00 p.m.
