Broncbuster men’s bball 25th in preseason polls
Garden City, KS (westernkansasnews.com)-For the first time in more than 10 years, the Garden City men’s basketball program received some national recognition on Monday.
The Broncbusters are ranked 25th in the preseason NJCAA polls; the first time since 2005 that they’ve been in or received votes.
“I think our region directors have seen what this team is capable of in our scrimmages,” Head Coach Brady Trenkle said. “It’s cool for the guys.”
Garden City is coming off an up-and-down season that saw them finished 9-10 in conference (8th place) and 18-14 overall. The Broncbusters did win a postseason game for the first time under Trenkle when they knocked off Seward Couny in the opening round of the Region VI Tournament. Their season ended with a 77-71 loss to eventual runner-up Hutchinson 77-71.
Northwest Florida State is ranked No. 1 followed by Georgia Highlands, Trinity Valley, Eastern Florida State and South Plains. Hutchinson is the highest-ranked Jayhawk school at No. 6, while Neosho is 13th.
