Phyllis Jean Meadows

Phyllis Jean Meadows, 83, passed away peacefully on January 10, 2016 at Brookdale Senior Living, Dodge City. She was born on August 14, 1932 in Hodgeman County, the daughter of Herman J. and Zena Margaret (Wilkens) Beltz.

Phyllis was a graduate of Dodge City High School. On April 22, 1952 she married Doyle Wayne Meadows. He preceded her in death on June 3, 2006. She was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking and gardening. In her younger years she also worked as secretary for a department store and as a seamstress.

She was a member of the Holy Cross Lutheran Church of Dodge City and Lutheran Hour Ministries. Phyllis was active in the church making quilts for the needy and served on several committees for the Lutheran Church.

Phyllis is survived by a son, Ronald W. Meadows of Dodge City; three daughters, Linda Wyler of Austin, Texas, Joanna Stephenson of Rogers, Arkansas and Jerri Pick of Round Rock, Texas; six grandchildren and four great grandchildren; and one sister, Roberta Maier of Dodge City. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Richard Meadows; a grandson, Christopher Slade Meadows; and two brothers, Norman and Elton Beltz.

Funeral service will be held at the Holy Cross Lutheran Church on Friday, January 15, 2016 at 10:30 AM with Rev. Randall Jahnke presiding. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Home on Thursday, January 14, 2016 from Noon to 8:00 PM. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of the Prairie or Holy Cross Lutheran Church both in care of the funeral home.
