Garden City, KS-More often than not, failure always determines future success. The 2018 Buffalo soccer team epitomizes that concept.
Emeline Gomez scored in the 88th minute, and Garden City defeated Liberal 1-0 in overtime Tuesday night at Buffalo stadium. The victory secured the program’s first outright Western Athletic Conference title since 2015.
“We all of the things we have been through this year, I am so proud of these girls,” assistant coach Josue Negron said afterwards. “The weather has been crazy this year, and we’ve dealt with injuries.”
Garden City improved to 10-3-3 overall and 5-1-2 in conference play. The Buffaloes are currently in fifth place in the region with the playoffs beginning next week.
