FORD COUNTY, Kan. — One person has been injured following a two-vehicle accident in Ford County on Wednesday morning.

The crash happened just before 6 a.m. on U.S. 50, three miles west of the Dodge City city limits.

A 2004 Peterbilt Semi driven by Aaron Soto-Barrios, 26, Garden City was eastbound on U.S. 50 when a 2009 Chevy passenger car driven by Christine Knifer Schmidt, 48, Dodge City was also headed eastbound. According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, Schmidt slowed down to avoid a deer in the roadway, but hit the deer.
